If you're submitting links to a directory what are you looking for in the way of page quality? Is any directory page worth paying for a link, and if so, how much?
Look for weird looking sites that may suggest auto approval, look for all sites to be in the topic in the same category.
Well, yes, I understand that. I have to say though I've seen no fall off of submissions since the PR went from 5 to 4 then to 2. I've already made significant changes to rectify that, but that's going to happen on googles schedule so there's nothing I can do about it but wait. On the other hand, there are a lot of other factors to consider. I think the real question is, if all other things are equal between two pages, including PR, does the fact that one is paid and another is free going to make a difference to the search engines?
I look at Alexa rank. I don't take time to submit to sites with an Alexa in the millions because I don't think the admin will ever get to checking the submissions.
I would obviously look for the PR of the page where I intend to have my link put up and also the fact whether the directory itself is well maintained or not! Regards, RightMan
The most important factor for me is definitely the page rank of the directory and like RightMan said, the fact whether the directory is being well maintained and moderated.
You can see its page rank, and alxa PV traffic. if the topic is related to yours this page is worth to change or buy a backlink from this page .premise its PR and traffic is accepted by you.
The PR should be same,no matters that its paid or free. And after that you should choose the best category(or sub category) and keywords to place your links. Keywords and Specific category selection plays an important role.
