I know that the Ukranians were very brave in their fight against the Russian communists, which was a battle that they unfortunately lost.

A famine deliberately engineered by the regime of Stalin 70 years ago claimed 7 million Ukranian lives. It was actually much worse than the holocaust because the people STARVED to death instead of just being gassed.

I also know that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded and sent radiation all over the place.

Last thing I heard about the Ukraine was the president Yuschenko being poisoned with dioxin.

oh yeah, and it seems that everyone in The Ukraine has a last name ending in "enko."

I know quite a lot about Ukraine, because my home town in Romania (Tulcea) is near the border with Ukraine. In fact I saw a zillion times the cities of Izmail and Kilia from the boat when I went to my grandparents in the Danube Delta. Ukrainian is somewhat spoken in that Romanian region and Ukrainian TV was very interesting back in the communist era when our own national TV station was crap. :D

My friend is from Ukraine. She is from kremenchuk, now living in Kiev.
    She hates kiev's traffic.
That Ukrainian doll is called matruysha or babushka doll.
So what else is good about Ukraine.
