The Philippines is an archipelago nation in the Pacific, next to China. It's made up of thousands of islands, like Japan. The majority of the people look like Malaysians, with whom they share a common ancestry.

One of my good friends is from the Philippines, called Arturo. :)

There's a guy in my history class from the Philippines. He is really into war and war history. He is really smart, but has a few problems. He talks LOUD and doesn't know when certain things are appropriate. He's always trying to describe how the Japanese tourtured their enemies.

Actually, Philippines is a great place for a vacation!
Beaches are really awesome and people are really friendly and accomodating to tourists!
It is not a highly-urbanized country like US so the cost of living is really low.
People are hospitable that's why lots of tourists spend their time most often in that country.
So, if you guys have some extra bucks, I advise you to visit that place! :)

    GEOGRAPHY

The Philippine archipelago is geographically located between latitude (approximately) 4o23'N and 21o25'N and longitude (approximately) 112oE and 127oE. It is composed of 7,107 islands, with a land area of 299,764 sq.kilometers. Its length measures 1,850 kilometers, starting from the point near the southern tip of Taiwan and ending close to northern Borneo. Its breadth is about 965 kilometers. The Philippine coastline adds up to 17,500 km. Three prominent bodies of water surround the archipelago: the Pacific Ocean on the east, the South China Sea on the west and north, and the Celebes Sea on the south. This position accounts for much of the variations in geographic, climatic and vegetational conditions in the country.

Philippines has some of the most hospitable people in the world. So much so that from what I see a lot of work that requires courtesy and hospitality are outsourced to Filippinos. Something I find a great pity about this country is some of its brightest can't remain in their own country because of a lack of job opportunities. Often doctors have to work overseas as nurses, engineers as technicians, degree holders as maids. A very sad thing that they can't use their training the way they wanted it.

I don't know much, but I know I was almost born there.

My parents brought back some beautiful hand carved items while they served over there in the military. The carvings were amazing.
