What do you have in your WordPress comment blacklist?

    I have:

    - .ru
    - .sk
    - viagra
    - [some random Russian characters....]
    - rolex

That seems to stop most spam comments, but some are still leaking through. What words do you have in your list? I need to add some more to mine, apparently.

    Thanks.

Honestly, it's not likely that I am going to post that publicly and give spammers any more ammunition. I know you are just looking to share knowledge, but it's kind of like asking "What words should spammers avoid to get past your blacklist?"

I will just say that most of my spam comes from India, Pakistan, China and Russia so I just block all of those IP's and more.

I'm sure spammers have better things to do than read threads on DP, trying to associate user's spam lists with blogs they may possibly own.

If you have problem with annoying spammers, install my plugin Spammer Blocker.
Every visitor who posted a comment that was later marked as a spam will be banned until you approve/delete the post.

You would think so. You would also think they would have better things to do than spam. But they would rather waste time and energy doing that, than doing some legitimate SEO that will actually work. Spammers are stupid. There is no logic to stupidity.

Bottom line is, there are a shit load of spammers that hang out on DP and I'm just leery of threads that tell them how to do stuff.

You think I'm crazy? Give it a try sometimes. Place or remove a site that accepts comments in your sig and see if there is a difference is spam comments. I've tried the experiment and I am positive.

Besides, like I said, I am at the point now where I just block whole IP addresses from access, and email URL's from registration. Particularly, .info's.

I pefer using Akismet to deal with spam... Seriously, this is a killer plugin. It blocks almost 100% spam for me. Why don't you try it? All you need is to register at wordpressdotcom and get the API key.
