I constantly hear about twitter everywhere I go now. It's like a plague. Awhile back I actually had the displeasure of going to Twitter to see what it was all about and I nearly threw up. People actually like this?? Anyways, I wanted to hear from other people, like me, who also think it's the dumbest most useless website they've ever seen.
If you follow stupid people, you'll get stupid tweets. I follow people who write blogs I love, comedy writers I've admired for years, news broadcast stations who keep me updated on what's going on, industry leaders and colleagues who keep me informed, and friends who amuse me. None of them have ever made me throw up. However, I have thrown my phone away because I heard a teenage boy using one once who was really annoying.
My only issue is that you only can post a short breif post which almost makes the thing more of a fad than anything.
That's a rather poor argument simply because people tend to use Twitter in conjuction with other social networking sites. Facebook/Twitter integration is really starting to kick off and I personally use Twitter to complement my blog and make quick comments where a full blog post wouldn't be neccesary. I'm not a massive fan of the service myself to be honest, but I think it's more than a simple 'fad'. I think like every social networking site it's who you add that makes the actual difference.
Everything you have listed, along with the fact that it gets so much publicity. Honestly, it is a boring waste of time
