On the home page of your blog, do you have the full post displayed or just the excerpt?

    Really? Hmm.

How many posts do you list on the front page and how long are they on avg?

I just think that doing full posts (that avg 300+ words) on the front page can get bulky.

Think it is better to have more posts on front page (excerpts) or less (full page)?

I use to have the whole post in my blogs on the front page, but like you said, it got too confusing, I now use a teaser.

I am currently re-evaluating how I will do it. Theproblem I have, is that I try to post at least three times daily. It would be easy for a reader to miss out on posts by limitig the number of posts I run on the front page.I currently run 15 posts on the main page. I also had a problem with my ads. At the rate I was posting, I would show PSA's a lot becasue posts would not get crawled until they were off the main page. Thinking about it right now, I am going to drop it to 6 posts and see what happens then.

If you do a few posts a day, I would think excerpts are the best way to go. You can show off many posts in a highly usable fashion.

I think if a page scrolls too far down, the user gets an overwhelming feeling and is likely to leave. You need to feed people in bit sized portions.

Having a section on the front page for the posts you think are the cream of the crop is a good move too.

Depends on your blog software. I use WordPress, the best in my opinion. You just call up the excerpt instead of the story. Simple.

I have used others and they generally required a slight coding change. Best to check the support site for your software.

If you use WP, just call: the_excerpt(); instead of the content.

Instead of this, I would say use more tag from the editor. Put the more tag from where you want your post to be cut-off on main page. It will automatically add a read more link.

Yea you can. I just modified my template since I will never want the full article on the home page.
