What do you do when you're banned?

    Hey guys.

I'm a newbie here. Recently, I've just joined some of these forum sites. And on one of them, I was banned. Apparently, I was 'spamming' their forum. When all I was doing was replying to threads. And proper replies, may I add.

It also said that the ban will never be lifted. This is the first time this has ever happened to me.

    Any advice?

    Best regards! :)

maybe you had some sort of a link in your signature that the mods on that forum deemed to be spammy and your posts gave the impression that you were trying to promote your site link in the signature.

Whenever I join a community the first thing I do is to read their rules, and FAQ section to get myself familiar with their rules and regulations to avoid being banned due to my ignorance.

There is nothing you can do. There are thousands of forums on various topics. You can join a different forum!

Learn from it - were you spamming? Did you include a mention of your site in every reply you gave? That does get very annoying very quickly.
    Then move on.

Obviously, your idea of proper replies wasn't the same as theirs. Too many times people join forums and start replying to threads with one line junk just to get their post count up, instead of actually trying to be helpful. Maybe that applied to you, or maybe not. Either way, your posts offended someone. So, you need to examine the way you post.

If you're imaginative and resourceful, being banned isn't much of an obstacle, unless you repeat your past offenses.

I too was banned by three forum sites last year because unknowingly I spammed those sites. One lifted and two never listed my account again. However, I never bothered because there are many more forum sites on the internet. So, don't bother about you being banned, instead, just look for another ones.

I think what all the members on all the forums need to do is start following all of the moderators and other higher ups and start reporting all of their infractions.

I think it would also be very interesting to find out how many of those that are in power on these forums are disrupting or otherwise interfering in the business of others to help them in their personal business endeavors or those of ther friends.

After people find out what the truth is there might be a lot less of these forums.

Can anyone tell me how to know when I thread is dead, if people
are still posting to it? I am just back after a ban for posting to
dead threads. I posted to threads where others had posted recently,
so how am I supposed to know? I did check and the threads were not
    marked closed.

Take a look at the posting dates would be the first place to look. Many forums don't close old threads. Some do. Depends on the opinion of the admin and how he or she feels about restarting old threads. Me personally I would rather see an old thread restarted over a new one when the topic is the same.

Rather funny most of the folks here in this thread have been banned. Maybe posting here is bad luck or something. ;)

edit: Oh, and check your sig links. One is broken and the other one drops me into a site that doesn't work.

There is a way, but you'll have to jump through a few hoops to get it to work and get back on the site. Best not to worry about it.

    hi, i'm a newbie here...

after reading the postings here, i noticed that there are many remark under the user name - there are 'Grunt', 'Tauren', 'Spirit Walker' and so many others,

my concern is, since i'm new, i really hope i won't do anything inappropriate or offending anyone, perhaps i really need someone to exactly explain to me some of the rules, (if not most of them) you know, it's a lot more easier and far less confusing being explained to by someone experienced...

    Thanks & Best Regards,
