Well here's an original cure for back pain. My old wrinkly mother has had back pain since tripping out the toilet in a bar and landing badly (bless her, the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree). So, at 67, the old coot has taken up horse-riding. She loves it (Don't think the horse is enjoying himself too much) and swears her back pain is slowly easing.
Completely correct. Not surprisingly, the muscles of your lower back and abdominal structure are integrally linked. If you are having problems with chronic lower back pain, it should be seen as a signal that your abdominal muscles are simply too weak to stabilize your trunk. Crunches, crunches, crunches! Ice and massage simply treat the symptoms, but if you want to cure the problem you will need to start exercising those abs. There's any number of exercise sites on the Internet that should be able to give you a good variety of beginner stomach exercises. And the certain to balance them with some back lifts so as not to overdevelop the abs at the expense of the back muscles. JP
