Read a history book and you will definitely fall asleep without problems . The history book must be a boring one too.
I always find a nice hot bath with epsom salts (lots of magnesium) helps me to relax and unwind before going to bed, it is also good for aches and pains as well as cold and flu symptoms - a great tonic. Another thing I used to use which always worked was a cd with the sound of waves, its very relaxing because you imagine yourself laying on a beach with the warm sun on your body and it just makes you relax and drift off to sleep.

RED WINE ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL SLEEPY, SO IF STILL AWAKE AT 2AM. I SINK A GLASS OF RED WINE IN ONE GO!! aLSO i HAVE COME TO BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING UP TO 4 HOURS IS PROBABLE ENOUGH SLEEP, AND THE NEXT NIGHT WILL BE BETTER.
I try to avoid using the PC or TV in this stage. Reading a book seems to send me to sleep much faster. Nothing worse that suddenly feeling tired half way through a movie / tv show.
look for popular keyword and research with google keyword tool until i get tired and sleepy. and when i wake up, i buy new domain, and build a micro niche website.
I just think about my daily activities before going to sleep. Its the time of your day, when you can think about the good and the bad you did for the day. Soon enough, you drift off to sleep and the new sun sets up. The cycle continues
