I know there is article marketing and PPC, but what are some other ways that you are promoting or SEOing your website? what is the go with directories these days? are they worth it?
Write nice code Make an xml sitemap Target weird niches! Better to be #1 in Google for Magical Blue Widgets, than at #839 for iPods.
If you are looking for an XML sitemap generator, I have one for free here. It generates off of the database so it is always up to date with any changes you make to your store.
So, I'm really curious. Do you feel that submitting articles to directories, doing Squidoo lenses, Hubpages, getting directory listings, doing blog postings, blog commenting and the like is unnecessary to achieve good rankings? Or, perhaps you rely on advertising. And, how many bookmarking sites to you submit to? Again, just curious.
Social Bookmarking, I select very highly specialized high dollar niches...Google loves these. More Social bookmarking and then if I get around to it and the niche is high dollar enough I will do some article marketing or Press Releases. BIll
So, do you favor social bookmarking over all other link building techniques, and, if so, why? Also, why do you think Google has more intense love for "high dollar niches"?
I make sure the site is properly setup with keywords from my research. I then find someone here on dp to submit it to directories. i am all about the organic traffic! This seems to have worked in the past, but now google is giving my sites the boot to page forever for some of my keywords. It might be because BANS sites are packed full of ebay rover affiliate links. V3.0 is supposed to cure this... Has anyone got data on submiting to directories vs submitting to social bookmarking sites? It would be helpful to know which is better.
I actually do believe in all of this. I'll be the first to say that my strategy is 1) to get the site up live and start aging it, and adding additional pages, then 2) when I have free time (which is rare), I start promoting it through those means. Aside from that, I use Adwords and try to find longtail keywords that only cost .05 cents or less.
