I'm just curious what most of you guys around here do for a living or proffession. I'm considering prospective careers and definetly want to see what others are into.

I worked as a computer technician for 4 years
then worked as a freelance programmer and made zero dollars
finally I opened my own online bussiness and maintained that as best I could for the last 1.5 years.

Nah I completely blame the fact that like 85% of the city residents are under the age of 21

I'm a web developer for a small internet company, but I work to live, not the other way around. I like what I do, but I'd rather be retired and traveling the world at my leisure.

I teach martial arts, and am trying to eke out a living doing this. Signs point to positive - but, for the moment, kind of like the 8-ball answer genie, I'm afraid.

Formerly, chef and owner of a French bistro. (see DP chat - "food").

I'm a systems engineer for a defense contacting company...hopefully not for too much longer. I rather be at home building more sites and spending more time with the family.

Im still a grad student at my dear Todai or University of Tokyo -number 1 in Japan and World Top 12 - Go Todai!!- and i now do my living in many ways, trying still to see where i ll focus when ill graduate

1.a semi-online store (i sell more offline) around $2000/month but growing...
2.nikkei stock (no more than $1000 every month)
3.sportbetting (again no more than $1000/month, average $600 to $800 month)
    4. a very good scholarship to young entrepreneurs/students from a Japanese Company $1800/month,
    5. making small websites for japanese mom and dad kind of stores average $1200/ month
    5. adsense very few still (so i better dont say it)

Im okay but Tokyo is quite expensive so i cant save much; i guess this sum is somehow like making just like $2500/month or less in US because prices/rent/etc is cheaper there, so i dont think my income is good :( Still looking a better way to make money like everyone else...
the good thing is that except the nikkei that i do weekdays, i "work" on weekends. weekdays school....

by the way i think you guys can find this article interesting about young entrepeneurs, try to get ideas from what they do:

Wow congrats on attending Todai, I've always dreamt of it but I don't know enough Japanese and their requirements are through the roof to get in.

According to my wife: I sit home playing video games, watching movies, and working on my R/C airplanes.

That's only partially true. I also build websites and do some consulting work :D I love being my own boss.
