If your site has frequently returning visitors you probably know the problem: After a while users know where the ad positions are and get kind of a blind spot there. What do you do to keep the users attracted to ads that are alway in the same spot? And what are methods that are not against TOS? I thought of turning on and off ads frequently. So that sometimes there is an ad in place for the user and sometimes there is not. I thought of changing positions frequently, so that sometimes there is content where the user expected ads and ads where the user has expected content. I wonder what you do against blindspotting?
The best thing to do seems to be removing ads entirely for these users and finding other ways to monetize their visits. Sometimes that happens to be indirect monetization, where you don't make anything directly from their visit, but their visit helps towards something else you can monetize.
