    I say think posting and blog commenting are the most popular ways. I even wrote about why they are efficient ways to get backlink :) http://techgeeks-online.com/?p=1237 I just think writing an article for a link takes way to long - you can get a similar link by just commenting on the post.

    Variety is the key: Article directories, blog post, other web2.0 properties like squidoo (all with good content pertaining to your niche and keywords), forum sigs and profiles, etc. Link exchanges with related sites.

    The key is to mix it up.
