any and every email received without having asked for it beforehand! if I need information, I search and contact the supplier - that is solicited mail anything else is unsolicited mail and thus SPAM and belongs blacklisted exceptions may be when persons subscribe to mail lists or member lists clearly defined to send out certain mail a certain number of time per month or year - like newsletter subscriptions
Doesn't that encompass a lot of the social media posts out there, though? Sure, some people use facebook to keep up with the comings and goings of friends and family, but these days, a lot of people are there only to generate links. FB and Twitter have bent over backward to aid in that, so I would have to wonder whether calling a tweet spam is really accurate. Now, if you said ... "to gain a link in order to SELL you something", I'd agree 100%.
