what do these two words mean in commission junction. Referral Period: 90 day (s) Number of Occurrences: Unlimited
Referral Period means how long cookie lasts. So if someone clicks on link, it can go back and buy product in 90 days top and you will still get commission for that. And Number of Occurrences I have no idea...
It means that from the date the customer clicked on your link you will get credit for any sales made within 90 days. The "unlimited occurrences" means that if they go in 1 week and buy something, and then go back 2 weeks later and buy something else, you will get credit for both sales. You will get credit for as many sales (occurrences) as happen within the 90 day cookie (referral period).
Unfortunately people take advantage of this to do "cookie stuffing" which means you stuffing your visitors computer with every advertisers cookie possible, and when the client buys a product from one of the advertisers without even visiting your website you get paid. This will defiantly get your account terminated... Just making sure to let you know in case you get any bad ideas... Quality control already knows about this trick and they watch for it.
90 days is the cookie period whenever someone clicks on your affiliate link the advertiser will set the cookie on the customer so if the user closes the site and returns back within the referal period and makes a purchase then it will be considered as your sale however nowadays most of the people clear their cookies so its of no use
"Number of Occurrences" refers to the number of times a visitor's purchases can be attributed to the same affiliate within the designated cookie life.
