What do seo companies do and could I do it myself?

Could anyone answer my question on what seo companies do and could I do it myself?

I want to try and get good results for my site on google but can't afford seo and wouldn't really know where to start on doing seo myself as good as these companies claim to do it.

Seo companies spend your money. If you have the time, you can do it all yourself. Search engine optimization might sound complicated but it is pretty simple. The more links that point to your site, the better your site will rank.

Pick the keyword you want to rank high for. What you want is text links that point towards your site. Use the following html <A HREF="your website adddress/">your keyword</A>.

The page rank of the site that is linking towards you makes a huge difference in how much value google places on that sites outbound links.

The amount of backlinks it takes to get a page rank of 2 is twice as much as what it takes to get pr 1.

 

I agree you must learn first then apply. SEo is doing right things ... not a black magic.
Ofcourse we have black hat seo.
