What Do People Do During December?

    Hi All,

I am not US resident. I am curious about what people (especially those reside in US) do during Dec holiday.

When is the start of Christmas public holiday? For how long?
Do people normally take long holiday (> 1week) for Christmas and New Year?
Do they normally travel long distance during Christmas?

    Thanks
    Casey

In December I guess many people are getting ready for Xmas and new year, buying gifts, and all that.

Eat. Then they eat some more.

I think a lot of people who are able to will take a week, or at least a few days, off at Christmas, and visit relatives. The US is generally a fairly religious country (more so than the UK), so I suppose it's a festival that most like to celebrate.

I am sure online shopping is doing very well during Dec as more and more people are shopping for Christmas gift online. I was wondering how this festival would affect publisher's AdSense income.

Some people take the week or so off in and around Christmas/New Years. Buying presents usually starts on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It's crazy the amount of people stores get when they have these sales.
