I posted on WF and didn't really get any replies so hopefully DP will be a little friendlier . I want to put up a site detailing my experience in my particular niche. I had planned on just putting up some adsense links, but that was before I found IM and SEO and all that stuff. So my question is, if I put up a site detailing my experience and my suggestions, maybe link some current news in my topic, what should I sell? Would the best route to go be to setup affiliate links that have related products?
I don't think it's a matter of which forum is friendlier. You are asking a vague question that really can't be answered properly without more information. In general terms you are going to have to research the various commission and click-based programs to see who offers advertising for products or services related to your niche. Google your topic and see if there are any ads in the results page. Are they relevant? Also use the adwords keyword tool to see what keyword phrases are searched for and how much they pay. Visit Commission Junction, Clickbank, Amazon and the other affiliate sites to see what products they have. What should you sell specifically? Again, you haven't given enough info to answer that. Think about your topic. If it is an activity...what equipment is used? If it is a tool...what attachments and similar tools are used by people who use that tool? If it is food...where can people find the food you are talking about?
Thanks for the reply. I guess to more acurately ask my question. Other than adwords & affiliate links to related products, what other things could I sell? I see some people selling ebooks, but I think that's more to marketing to IMers.
YMC pretty much gave you the answer. Since we do not know what you like, that is a question that really cannot fully be answered. Do some digging. See what YOU like, and then go from there. You could open a subscription site and sell memberships??? (For $7 a month they subscribe to your site where they can read info). But, e-books (selling info) affiliate products, selling ad space in your site is basically it. You just have to find what in those areas YOU want to do.
