What do I need?

Recently made some small changes to our homepage at American Home Inspector Directory and have dropped 6th to 10th or 11th depending on which days I check. The only changes I have made are I switched my menu to one that is searchable and I took off a Link all of our State pages from my footer. Can anyone give me a little advice on what I need to do?

    Thank you,

I would recommend removing javascript void(0) links ... and building menus thru CSS. :)
& keep on building quality backlinks to improve your rankings in serp.

    Mong,

Thanks you for taking the time to reply. What do you mean by javascript void(0) links? Also what is the advantage of changing my menu. The one I currently have can be crawled, but the link text is not.

When you hover on few links then its connected to void(0) function not text. And changing menus using CSS means no problem with crawling of your pages. :)

Yes, remove the JS menu and change it to CSS or text based. DynamicDrive has some very good CSS menu:
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/

In addition, try to use <H1> tags for your headers :)

Thanks for all your replies. I will implement it in this week. One last question, do you think I need any more keyword rich content on my index page or do I already have enough.

Your homepage looks fine, looks like you just need to keep building links :)

    Great!

I am looking at the css based menus listed in the url above and dont see one that will drop down and expand or scroll. Can this be done? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have built a new css menu as suggest above. I have one question before I add to all my pages. Should I place the menu in a subfolder and call it up using JavaScript as I have it here:http://www.americanhomeinspectordirectory.com/Sample.php

Or do I place all the code in the header? As I show here: http://www.americanhomeinspectordirectory.com/Sample1.php

The reason I ask is for SEO purposes only. If I view source of each page listed above Sample.php shows only the script and Sample1.php show all the code including keywords.

    Does it make a difference?

    Thanks for your help.
    Thank you,
