Hi! I saw this posted this elsewhere and thought that I'd bring the discussion here as well, as I know DP has members from all over the world! I'm thinking of bringing my online business to Indonesia, as living in Los Angeles, USA is too much of high cost and too much of the rat race. Tell me...what do I need to move to Indonesia? 1. To actually get in the country, I should have a one way ticket out, correct? to show that I am leaving the country. Then go to immigration office to get work visa? how does that work? And how difficuilt it is to get extensions. 2. How much spending money shoudl i bring to start? $2,000-$3000 minimum? And what would you suggest would be the monthly income that one could live off of. 3. Would you advise on arriving in BALI? If so, how much a day would a hotel be and how easy/hard is it to find a place to rent. 4. How much typically is rent and are rent conditions same as US? (lots of paperwork - 3 months deposit). This is an extention of question 2. 5. I want to pull an Obama and acquire citizenship there. I hear it's very tough and bribe filled. But that's ok. What's the process? 6. Can I learn Indonesian language while there? 7. What cities are best to arrive in for a Los Angeles guy like me? 8. Am I allowed to have job there? My primary income would be IM. But I'm just wondering if it's possible to get a job there at all. 9. How reliable are internet services? I heard Media Broadband and Biznet are the way to go? 10. Should I bring my own laptop or buy one there? BONUS QUESTION: Have you migrated from US to Indonesia? Hopefully this helps others too, as I'd love to learn more about this great country!
