I see so many people with their own websites, and I want to create my own site, but I know absolutely nothing about starting or operating a website. I have a little list of things that I need some greater explanation on: - Domain name (How/where do I register? Price? etc..) - Web Hosting (Price? Which webhosting service to choose?) - Wordpress (What is it?) - Adwords/Adsense & other ad programs (How do they work?) - Search Engines (How to get better recognition/placemnet? Do you need to register to Google/Yahoo/MSN to have your site displayed in a search?) - Revenue (Sources of revenue? Average revenue?) - Cost (Maintnance, upkeep, etc.. Initial cost and monthly costs) - Development (1 developed site compared to many weakly developed sites?) The only real concern I have is the expenses and the revenue. To be honst, I don't see a content website as being very profitable as the only source of revenue is ad revenue, which is not guranteed. But then again I don't know much about ad programs and maybe I am completely wrong. Maybe I might get in contact with thousand just to ask him a few questions. I know that most of these answers can be found some way or another on Google, but I want to ask some people sho have first habd experience in this subject.
go to godaddy.com to get a domain name and check there prices or if you want a .co.nr domain for free got to freedomain.co.nr go to 10xhosting.com for free/paid hosting or you can simply go to 110mb.com
You do have a lot of questions and all of them have been answered here one time or another. I'll answer a few of them and maybe someone else will jump with other answers. Go back and read old post to get more info. Godaddy for the name, gatorhost for hosting, wordpress is a free blog site. A blog sort of like a website except its free and you can update it whenever you like. There are pluses and minuses with it and a website. Adsense is a free ad program you can put on your site and when someone click on it it pays you a few cents. Adwords are the ads in google on the right side of the page. You bid on them to get a better location. They are based on keywords. Very sketchy explanation but its late and I'm tired. Check all the posts and google the questions for more answers. Good luck. donrock
1. GoDaddy.com, Price- $6.50 or something like that 2. web hosting: if you want to host wordpress then my advise to you will be to start cheap. The Buy sell trade section here has many cheap hosts. But get hosting only from those who have high iTrader rating. Or else you will be scammed. after your site gets big you can move on to hostgator.com.. 3.Wordpress is blogging software. You can download it for free from wordpress.org...then you install it locally in your own PC to test how it works..make a google search on: install wordpress locally..you will see relevant results that explain you how to install it locally. 4. since you want to make money, your major concern will be adsense. Thru adsense you can put ads in you blog. when someone clicks on it, you get paid few cents to few dollars. Adwords will be useful when you want to advertise your own blog. 5. For that i would recommend you to visit the link building and SEO section. 6. revenue depends on the way you monetise your site. your blog needs to be famous first..then the revenue factor comes in. You can earn thousands per month. 7. Intial cost: domain: $6.50, hosting: $2-3/mo(considering that you go with a small and cheap host in starting), wordpress: FREE, advertising: depends on you. 8. one developed site is equal to infinite weakly developed site. A weakly developed site has no place on the internet. LAST WORD: Please don be hasty in starting up a blog. Make your research o n what topics you shud make your blog. i would recommend you to read the following blog: doshdosh.com: this will tell you how to build quality websites. mixedmarketarts.com: this will tell you how to make your website popular. I hope i have solved your doubts to some extent
You could even get the domain from my signature. That's the easy part. DO a search for what you want.
It depends on what your site is going to be about but you should also look into promoting an affiliate program related to your site for extra revenue.
in the beginning no need to focus on monetization. usually when you think about money you will put less time on getting traffic to your site and creating content and pages. learn about how to build good seo pages and good website structure. traffic engine is very critical if you don't want to spend money on advertising. The chance of getting profit using paid advertising is very low if you have lack of internet experience.
For the best domains I use godaddy For best hosting I use hostgator For revenue use adsense or an affiliate program my favorite is neverblue Dreamweaver for design core ftp for upload hmm what else
