What do I need to do?

I really do not want to spam any section of this forum with useless post just in order to activate this account. Kindly, with sugar on top, could someone please tell me (here or by PM) how I become able to actually create new posts on this board?

[I just want to post in the traffic section asking for some traffic quotes.]

Would be interesting to see how many likes you actually get from spamming. :)

    Thank you but no.

Clearly someone concluded they were not making enough money of this place and decided to monetized it either by activity (posts & likes) or by a laughable expensive subscription. And that will work just fine. For a while. Eventually a new place without all these draconian restrictions solely for the benefit of money grubbery will pop up and replace it.

The digital point bubble is about to pop.

[Goodbye, and thanks for all the rotten fish.]

...or it is a way of preventing user's who have nothing beneficial from spamming the community with crap they are selling. One of those... :)

If it was about money, the bar would be more like 1,000 likes, not 3. :)

OP all you've done is complain from your very first post. Your Introductions thread was 100% whining. Why did you even bother to register with DP?

To let us know that he is lazy and cheap and that he doesn't like how DP is running, obviously .

Only three likes required (a very small, pathetic amount) and you are unable to/too lazy to even do that? Yet again, the system is working. :)

I just think paying $25 for the privilege to post one question is a bit steep and getting 3 likes might sound easy for an established member but no so much for newbie.

I do understand the need to vet people to avoid spammers but these measures have very little to with that - at least not as the primary reason. I don't think I am being entitled in any sense - it's not that I don't want to contribute, but more so that I don't want to make up random posts for the sole purpose of getting likes. It will only serve to clutter the board but I guess that is part of the game plan (activity).

And yes I do come off as a bit annoyed -sorry - but don't be so entrenched in your mindset that you solidly determine that what I am saying is entirely unreasonable.

When someone who first came on DP and in his first post start whining how this is bad place is a pussy and he shouldn't came at all.. If you don't like it, leave it but if you keep whining it won't help you..

Also , your account can't be deleted..

Either way, you probably don't have much of a chance of getting likes by spamming or posting "pointless clutter".

You can post all the questions you want without paying for anything, you just can't buy/sell things is all. And actually, you *can* buy or sell things, just not with your own thread (if you want a service, look for people selling whatever that service is).

The marketplace was *always* only a special benefit for good/contributing users. Basically you want some sort of exception for you to use the marketplace without being a contributing user.

Interesting. I did not know that.

In fact, it's actually easier to use the marketplace now. Before you had to make 25 posts and wait 2 weeks from signup date no matter what. You could have made 500 good posts, but if you weren't a member for 2 weeks, it didn't matter. Also, premium membership didn't grant you premature access, so literally there was no way at all to get in there in less than 2 weeks.

Now the "waiting" period is 2 days, and there's also a way to bypass requirements (including waiting period) via premium membership. So in fact it's easier to use the marketplace now than what it was prior to last January when the changes were made.

Many times new members (or old members without likes) have shown it isn't hard with a bit of effort. The right bit of like bait and they become established in one post. It's not about whether you're established or not, but actually trying and using your brain (like a website review that's more than the usual one sentence long or offering some advice based on your skills and experience with X tech, or just advice stemming from common sense).

How are you assessing that? Were you an active member before? No. Speaking as someone before who was frustrated by the level of spam, the new system has worked, it's a lot less spam-filled. Yeah, it's personally annoying for you, but it doesn't mean it hasn't worked (if you're to be objective about it).

Think for a moment - if you go to a website dedicated to hiring people (such as a micro site workers or a freelancers type site) and can't post a job after you've joined despite the fact you're paying to post one (or they take a cut of the job value) then yeah, it would be annoying. But this is a forum for discussing things related to building, running and promoting a wesbite. (In fact, it was originally just for supporting the tools made by Shawn, I believe, and is still part of its function.) I stand by my view that three likes for access to a large marketplace is a pathetically small fee/requirement.

And there is nothing to stop you from responding to threads (or better, a direct conversation if the question is only relevant to the thread starter) where people are offering traffic services. So the chances are you could have achieved what you needed to after joining (and still can, if you wanted to).
