Hi there I'm still on dial up and want to finally get broadband. I was going to get regular broadband so I was going to install a new phone socket in my room (since theres only 1 in the house and my parents dont like me using it)

however I'm now thinking about getting wireless broadband as it may be cheaper and I think I wouldnt need to pay for the phone line rental cost since I presume it doesnt use any cords etc..

As you can see I'm pretty confused here..what do I need to get it to work.

    Im guessing:

    wi fi
    a regular modem
    some connection box installed
    some little antena?

Am I right in saying I dont need to connect anything to my phone socket to get wireless internet to work?

    Thanks for your help.

You need either a regular modem + wireless router OR a combined modem wireless router. The router has a little antenna it uses to broadcast your wireless signal.
You will also need to enable each PC you intend to use - do this by installing a wireless card or USB adapter on each. Most new laptops and desktops come with a wireless card already built in.

Oh and don't forget the internet to connect to. Without internet it would have been pointless :)

If you go broadband, it won't come in through your phone line...you will need a different connection, like coming in through Cable TV lines. If you go DSL though, it will come in through your phone line. The luxury of DSL is that you are connected to the phone line but that you can be online all the time and still receive phone calls.
