What do I do with my site in the meantime while it's awaiting indexing by Google?

I submitted my site to Google, Yahoo, Bing and many other search engines a couple of weeks ago. Right now I'm just getting backlinks from similar sites and updating the site once every 2-3 days with new content.
What else should I be doing while my site is on the search engine waiting list?:)

Do your best to boost your traffic and build up your backlinks.

    1) start your own PPC advertising (if you have some budget for it)
    2) make your site/content appears on social media/bookmark sites (as you know, it's free)
    3) may as well try doing link exchange with other sites in your niche
    4) comment on other sites or blogs with your name linked back to your site
    5) submit your articles to article submission list

Well, anything that can bring you traffic, links, appearance will help.

The Federal Trade Commission should have more closely studied past mistakes before approving Google's acquisition of DoubleClick. Google is becoming the new Microsoft, only much worse.

Make sure your web pages have been optimized for targeted keywords that don't have too much competition.

Indexing on Google is easy. That will happen aanyway. But there's a difference with being indexed on page 32 and being indexed on page 1.

You still need to build backlinks with the other traffic methods such as social bookmarking, Twitter, article writing, etc.
