What do I do here?

Yesterday I purchased 3 sites from a guy on here. Now I'm not saying he has scammed me as he seems like a decent sort but I'm starting to get worried. The deal was that I would send 50% by Paypal ($160), he would then send the domains to me which he did, I would send the balance $162 then he would send me the files or give me access to download the files myself.

After I had sent the balance and the domains had been transfered to my namecheap account he seemed to go quiet. 2 hours later he sent me a zipped file which I could not open as it was corrupt. He is now saying that he has problems with the FTP on his server and can't get the files which is strange as his server seems to be running ok.

I have asked him to return my payment and I will return the domains until he has sorted out his server problems then we can go through the cash transfer and domain and files transfer again. Does this seem fair? If he rejects this what should I do.

I'm not going to post his name as I hope he is an honest guy and I don't want to damage his image on here.

Advice please. What would you do?

It may seems like a genuine problem and from what you described, it does look like he is doing his best to complete the sale. If I were you, I would give me a couple days to straighten things up.

I supposed if he wanted to scam you, he would not have transferred the domain name to you and run at that point of time.

I would wait. I would also open a paypal dispute if he did scam you, but wait a couple of days =) Good luck.

I think you can atleast wait for a couple more days and if he isnt able to do the service rendered then thats the time you can do paypal dispute. Anyway you still have ample time to do disputes in paypal but first i think it is best to just wait for awhile and talk it out with your seller.

it look like the person may have some problem.. because if he would wanted to scam you, then he would have run away after you send the 1st payment... and wouldnt be transfering the domains.... but since he did transfer the domains to you, so i dont think he is scamming you... so just tell him if he dont give you the files within 5 days then you will setup a dispute of half of your payment.. and take it back.... so ask him to resolve his issues as soon as possible.... this trick might make him work faster to resolve the issue with his FTP:d no you dont have to setup a dispute... only say him this...
