Rules What do I do about a blatant theft/scam on DP?

Ok, so I know people buy on DP at their own risk. Unfortunately this leads to a lot of theft and scams. DP should be doing more to protect their members though. If they are unwilling to do anything about it, this forum will just get shadier and shadier and its reputation will degrade even further.

Earlier this year I bought a paid link from a DP user with the username Surat. We agreed on a set price for a permanent link. Then 6 months later the link was removed. He didn't reply to any of my e-mails until I gave him negative itrader. He was then dumb enough to give me negative itrader from both of his accounts. He has another account with the username maxe. I reported the multiple account issue and both accounts were banned. It seems he talked to someone at DP and got his maxe account restored somehow. So this user was able to break the rules and steal from multiple people on this forum. Now I assume he is using a new 3rd account to rip off more people.

I actually e-mailed the domain owner for the site we bought the link on. It turns out that Surat was just a link reseller and he only paid the domain owner for 6 months advertising. He was planning on ripping me off from the very beginning!

What can be done about this?? Why is this user still allowed to keep using the DP forums to rip people off?

Do DP moderators only care about forum rules and not the safety of its members?

The Dp staff have already helped a lot. they said that they don't recommend anyone purchasing from a person who is either new or has next to no itrader. What more do you need.

DP staff don't get involved in member disputes, unless both members are premium members, but even then they don't do much. It's just too hard and too time consuming to see who is in the right and who is in the wrong, that's why we have the iTrader system in place, and the new feedback system being implemented.

Thats really quite sad vansterdam. I guess the guy was not permanently banned but banned for a particular duration. But if the ban was less than 6 months then its really crap. Also, ideally, both those accounts should have been merged by the mods so he can operate just one after serving his ban. I do hope this guy is properly punished for his scam

Wow you are so ignorant. Why do you insist on responding to my complaints with such bs? You did the exact same thing last time I complained about a similar situation. Go build up your post count somewhere else. Why do you keep sticking up for the thieves and scammers on this forum?

By the way, I do make a point of avoiding all members who have little or no itrader. All the people who steal from me make a point of building up itrader first, which makes the whole system crap. About all I can do is boycott this forum and do my business somewhere more trustworthy where the mods actually care enough to get involved in member disputes.

Let me start with your case: If someone steal something from you, openly talk about it in a thread so that everyone in DP will know about it. Regarding merchandise,
ask for 50% payment before the delivery of your work. If the buyer is reluctant to 'risk' his/her money, they have the freedom of using a reliable escrow service. As Laceygirl already pointed out, a couple of posts and 1 or 2 iTraders are not good enough to trust someone.

I know I have no iTraders. So I will suggest a buyer to use an escrow service. I mean, if I really am a bad ass, let the resolution system give the money back to buyer. DP Staff most probably won't interfere in financial disputes because I believe that they have a lot to do in terms of managing this site.
