What I usually look for in a girl is her independence factor, attitude, and her commitment to the activities she loves. Of course I look for looks too, but I'm not going to go looking for the hottest girl ever.

For me, she has to be able to be independent even while being in a relationship. Good attitude is nice but if there's a little spunk in there I don't mind. And the commitment factor because how you do anything is how you do everything. If she's committed to her school work, her job, her fitness, etc. then I'm almost certain she would be committed to a relationship.

Oh and if they like anime/dancing, then that's a plus. XD

Off the top of my head (bear in mind I've been in a relationship with the same person for 11 years now, and dated people for about ten years before that so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for).

Must love movies and slurpees and beer.

Can't have the "Gawd I'm so fat!" attitude. If you think you're fat, do something about it. Don't just drop lines like that an expect people to reply with "Oh no you're not! You look great". I understand women want compliments, and I do give them. But if you are going to complain about something, get off your ass and do something about it.

Must know what they like in bed, and can't just lay there like a post. Must be comfortable with their sexuality, enough to talk about it without getting nervous or jittery/embarrassed. If you can walk into a porn shop and ask the clerk about the differences in the various vibrators they carry without blushing then that's definately a good sign.

Can't be super religious, or at least one of those people that try to push their beliefs onto you. My wife, for example, is catholic - I think we'd talked about the existence of God maybe 3 times in the last decade. I have no problem talking about it or the bible, but she doesn't dare try to convert me.

Ideally has short and long term goals for the life that they are trying to reach.

Strong preference towards educated women, at least some college but I would prefer somebody with a degree that can actually hold up a decent conversation, even if it's on a subject that I have no knowledge of.

Must love animals. Must respect them. I love all animals, especially unsual/exotic ones (i.e. elephants, owls, etc).

Must have hobbies or some kind of interests. Not necessarily sports, just something to do for fun. It would be great if they're interested in martial arts as I am, but not a big deal if they aren't. I'm personally interested in law, anthropology, archeology, history, and technology. I also play video games, paintball, yoga, travel, and I read quite a bit.

Must be independant. Must have their own support network and friends, and be able to do stuff without me.

Must value life, believe in justice, and have good virtues and ethics.

Doesn't play headgames.

Cannot have anger management issues or be abusive in any way whatsoever.

If they have medical problems, they must be trying to deal with them or at least not trying to milk it (i.e. "I've got XXX disease, feel sorry for me!"). I personally suffer from chronic migraines and have glaucoma, but I don't let either stop me unless they get really bad, in which case I lock myself in a room and sleep. I don't try to make my wife pity me, and I expect the same. We take care of each other as needed, but we don't stay at our side 24/7 when one of us is down unless it's a major emergency.

Looks are a plus, but they are the last thing that I care about. Unless you can match the above, the most you could ever be to me is a one-night stand. You could be 400lbs and morbidly obese and I wouldn't care, looks really don't matter all that much to me.

Must be able to debate.

Must read at least 2-3 books every year.
