What do domainers mean by 'developing sites'?

    Hi,

I found this forum when looking up info about snapping a domain which is set to be deleted.

Reading through posts by domainers I see them talking about developing sites. What are they talking about?

I assume that they mean putting relevant content onto a site so that it attracts search traffic and also submitting it to search engines, getting links.

So I think they mean improving the page rank of the site and other stats so that they can later sell it to someone or use it for parking. Is that right or are they talking about something else?

Developing content for a site could be a lot of work. I wonder how often it is repaid.

Well that is repaid in the form of advertising revenue and returning visitors. Manytimes, revenue is more when the domain is developed instead parking it.

That depends on your skills, your seo knowledge, the market niche and other factors. Generally a developed website attracts more traffic because it doesn't rely only on typeins but on SE traffic, bookmarks and more.

After a domain has been developed it will have no sense in parking it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'd like to clarify my understanding of what you have said as it is very surprising to me.

If a domainer buys the site 'wineguzzlers.com' and he is said to develop this site that would mean he will, for example, put up a forum, a blog, information pages etc. I mean he will make a living site with the intention of attracting advertising revenue.

That is a really big deal. That is going to take a lot of time and effort.

Domainers usually just park the domain. Developing it means making it a site or a mini-site.
