The news with UTN didnt suprise me marketing and funding went into the project. I'm pretty sure this PR9 link from www.w3.org helped alot.

My directory - Phynder - went from PR5 to PR2...

    Ugh.

Well, yet another "too many links, too quickly"....

Oh, and my backlinks went from 1460 to 3990 - cute, huh?

    Thats insane.
I guess slow and steady is the best way.

It seems that google keeps coming out with new rules.....links too fast/too slow.....

Still, thats a heck of a way to destroy someones business model in one fell swoop.

Im sure the story behind this is great.....

Hi, the directory that I run, Tsection, did well too. From 0 to 5.

We have only been running for a month or so, so I am very pleased. Actually, more surprised. I think for me, it has been an organic process. If you start getting into trickery, Google will catch you out.

Nasty though for sites going the other way. Ouch.

    >Still, thats a heck of a way to destroy someones business model in one fell swoop.

Absolutely! Google has so much power it is unbelievable. The own the internet, it's that simple.

Wow. Slashdot's [ http://slashdot.org/ ] PageRank seems to have plummeted from 8 (maybe 9) to 0 (or at least "No PR data available)!

There must be a new Google algorithm at work. Surely this is a mistake?

It's not as if my toolbar is broken. Other PR are showing fine....

My Axelis Mainpage went from 4 to 5. The mainpage/index.php went from 0 to 4. Pretty much every other page on the site went from 0 to 3. Not too bad considering I've been pretty terrible about SEO on the site until just today. I fnally got the updates uploaded and gave it back all it's coop weight so some links should start building. I've also instituted some changes that should help get some recips. Now all I have to do if figure out the best way to mod_rewrite it, once I find the time for it that is.

Nice directory, but do you have any problems getting all the links on your front page spidered?

I was wondering the same thing but it appears that Google has found and assigned PR3 to the secondary pages.
