What Directories Don't Want You to Know.

YMC, before taking the image I asked the owner of it. Do you want his name, email address, home address and phone number to prove it? What I meant by taking it from Google images is I look for the images, I find them, mail the owners and ask for permission to use them.

Go ahead and write it The pics are not being hosted on their server. And I gave no information to anyone about where I got the pics from, I even blured the URL, the Logo and the info.

If you did indeed ask for permission to use the picture then I applaud you for your integrity. Too bad you don't mention that part in your blog to remind your visitors to do so as well.

Based on the spirited comments by dugu, you are breaking his copyrights. Screenshots are indeed copyrightable - strange but true. And I easily found the name of the site you were talking about - you missed at least one mention of the name on your screenshot.

These directories have no intention of becoming a true comprehensive directory or an actual resource for finding sites of any kind. Their sole purpose it to milk as many dollars from gullible webmasters as possible.

And that the nature of deception committed by these snake oil merchants becomes even more self evident in that how once confronted with the truth these (former?) apparently respectable businessmen do not refute the claims in an intelligent way but rather act as foul mouth thugs.

I removed the images, since the owner is so sensitive then I will not link to it. Anyway I'm in no trouble at all... I didn't lie on that post I posted the real pagerank of those pages... never linked to or showed in any way that the screenshot I took was Dugu's site. So good job dugu you won.... an infraction.

I find it so funny that while directory owners are generally upset about this (the fact that they only confer minor benefits [unless they have lots of high PR pages]), blog owners and other webmasters seem to generally agree with the post. Interesting observation.
