DMOZ, Pegasus Directory, So Much..these are some of the good directories which can drive you quality traffic..
I believe if your site is related to Sports...try submitting to sports niche directories first and then you can try getting listed under Sports> Hockey (or relevant category) category in some good general directories... Cheers!
I agree with Alistair...look for sports niche directories first. Then move on to general directories.
Find human edited Web directories, if you can find free or afford high PR Web directories go for it. But at the same time don't underestimate new Web directories even if they have 0 PR, submit to them if you can. New directories approve faster although not guaranteed and we don't know in the future if some of these new directories will be promoted highly and thus may acquire high PR promoting your Web site in the long run.
As if page rank actually matters. And instant approved...are you kidding? They are nothing more than link farms, and the search engines really HATE such sites.
Find any directory that is PR5 or above and ideally with relevant topic to your site. Second tier directories with specialized topic tend to work better than general ones.
