I've paid for several (10-20), but in my experience, you shouldn't count on getting ANY traffic from any of them... The only thing they're good for (in my opinion) is getting semi-high PR inbound links with relevant link-texts. If you have the money to spend, spend it - otherwise, try blog commenting, quality link exchanges and article submissions.
Everybody who works in SEO will tell you that a Yahoo directory link is worth every cent of the listing price.
I would be interested to read some statistics that any DPers have accumulated that show the value of a Yahoo link. $299 is way beyond my budget.
dont worry about these paid directories.just use the free ones and do everything else by buying IN-CONTENT links and using article submissions. This strategy works the best.
Has anyone used uknetguide.co.uk they charge £49.99 to advertise your website for one year. has anyone used this and does it bring any thing on the traffic side or is it another site not worth paying for. thanks for any advice --------------------- About-muscle.com Online Bodybuilding and Fitness info
If link adding site wide on a good popular directory.. Then it will be batter But you can use free listed directories also for get traffic... it's also a good option. Cheers!
first of all, you don't get any traffic from directories as the only people who visit them are webmasters like all of us who only care about finding good sites to exchange liks or check out competitors. second of all, start with free directories and then when you start getting cash you could try submitting to paid ones.
If you're looking for traffic I'd only pay for a link in a directory that actually gets search engine traffic. Those directories are usually niche directories although there are a few general directories that will give you a bit of traffic. I've had people tell me they get 3 or 4 hits a month from being listed in Yahoo (a general directory). I've got a listing in a niche directory that gives my site about 30 hits a month for a lot less money than the $299 a year. However, yahoo does pass some serious link juice. There are some directories that will pass hits back to your site. To find them I start with directories with a lot of traffic then try to determine where that traffic comes from. If the directory show up for some of the text on it's page in google then you'll probably get some hits from them. If you're looking for help to raise your site in the SERPs then you'll want to focus on niche directories.
The only directories apart from yahoo that provide any traffic and good link juice are http://botw.org/, http://joeant.com/ and a few others. From there on don't expect any traffic from directories.
for me, I'd still go to free directories.. there are lots of free good directories that has high page rank and that helps my website.
Paid directories are worth spending money. They give you valuable high PR backlink which is all important for your SE rankings
For your site, try to get links from health directories, doesn't matter whether it is paid. They will give you a lot of benefit in google ranking.
