I feel so stupid, a friend of mine asked me to come here for answers.

I know absolutely nothing about websites, domains or anything techie for that matter. Last night after a few hours of gaming n drinking, :D one of my friends wanted to check his email - and bumped into register.com

We were just playing around for what domain names were available..In a moment of excitement and stupidity I went ahead and registered a domain name for a year for $35!

So, what do I do with it! :D :D
I registered a domain at register.com! What does that mean? Does that mean tht I own that domain name now? I looked around the site and it says for $14 more, they will 'transfer' my domain - What's that about?

I guess the question is - What do I do with it? lol

LOL. Welcome to the world of webmastering, whether you wanted or not :D

Register is what's called a domain registrar. That's a company where you buy a domain. You can transfer it to an other registrar but that'd be kind of useless.

What you probably will want to do is either develop a website for that domain or to just sell it on. If you sell it, you'll have to transfer it to the new owner's registrar.

what domain did you register ? ( just for info ) lolz

Also do you know register.com is one of the most costy place to register a domain ...u can easily get a domain for even less than 8 $ :)

Anyways now enjoy with your domain buddy ! You can host a site or simply sell the domain if it is very cool :)

    Cheers

The question is, why did you register it? :) Develop it into a site or just sell it on.

You can sell it here on DP, but only after you have met the criteria that allows you to post stuff for sale (See FAQ/Rules). Alternatively you can sell it on places like sedo.com.

You can also keep it and just 'park the domain'. Google 'Domain Parking' for more info. It could make you a few bucks - but only if it's a 'good' domain. Which is unlikely, considering the state you were in when you bought it.

Let me guess, it's something like "such-and-such-is-a-son-of-a-such-and-such.com" :D
