Am looking for an RSS reader for my desktop that alert me whenever someone that I subscribe to made a new blog post, am new to the RSS game. Anyone got any suggestion for a good desktop RSS feed that does this?

Why a desktop feed reader and not a web based one such as Bloglines or Google Reader? I've tried desktop readers before and the web based services are much better.

If you absolutely must, Sharpreader is recommended. You can also use the latest version of Outlook, or even Firefox as a desktop feedreader as well as opposed to using a separate program.

Feed reader is a good program, I have used it for years with no problem. The interface is pretty basic and out of date, but it's very easy to use and is very stable. FeedReader.com

I prefer the Firefox one that I have...its a plugin of some sort, will try to find the name and get it to you.
