Of course there's also GBP for UK people. That's solid currency as well (although it would make things easier if Britain would switch to euros too ). Euros and GBP are strong compared to US right now, and I sure hope that US gets stonger (since I'm selling goods... naturally at the moment it's great to BUY stuff since EUR to US or GBP to US gives a great rate). Euro is a very solid currency used in many many countries in Europe, and I naturally am used to use it (since I live in Finland where we use euros). Without trying to hijack this thread... it would be nice to hear comments from US people: what they think about euros used in the Internet.
US dollars. It sucks to own them knowing that it can collapse any time, but everyone uses them, so I don't have much choice. I would prefer swiss francs, but it's too expensive to pay comission every time I need to trade them back to dollars. At least I don't own any dollars other than what I need to run my business
Most of my clients are local, and since I live in the Netherlands I can't charge them usd Even if I could I wouldn't. Have had a couple of inet assignments though, which all were paid with usd.
although I'm also in the Euro zone I use $ because most of my customers are in the US or they are in Asia where they prefer $$
It's easier to use US dollars...most people prefer to use it because they are already familiar with the exchange rate of US dollars to their currency.
I used USD a lot since I had more relations with the USA. Within Europe I use Euro and sometimes USD too
100 euros > 100 $ logical i prefer to get euros the best will be Pounds I use $ i get payed in $ i'm from Romania and my curency is RON
I'm surprised they don't use euro's yet in Romania. Personally I think the dollar will go down a bit more before it comes back up. I don't like that, but that's what I think.
US dollars for me also. I think that it's best currency and most useful in this business. Although Euro is also getting more respect lately.
The only time I would use Euro is if the client agreed to pay me the same amount of Euro as USD. So each Euro would mean one dollar, and I would benefit from the conversion. Interestingly, this has happened on more than one occasion.
I am in the US so I prefer my dollar coming from clients in USD. Although I do have a couple employees that are in Spain and Australia that work for my company from their locations. When I pay them it's in USD and the payment processor converts the funds for them. I guess it depends on the conversion rates if they are making more or less. Although i assume based on our conversations that my money is worth more to them because inflation and or costs of living aren't as high there. So if i am paying them let's say $12 an hour USD, they are actually making more based on conversion and cost of living. If I was receiving funds I prefer it's in USD. So if (example only) $100 in china is only $80 here. They will have to pay more than the $100 in they're currency so the end amount is USD $100.
The dollar is the currency of commerce. If I were to offer a product or service that normally goes for $100 at the price of $60 people would see it and know its a good deal. If I were to offer the same value in euros people outside Europe wouldn't know the exact value of what I'm offering. They'd be less likely to realize that I'm offering a good deal and would therefor be less likely to buy from me based on my prices.
Dollars rock, most of the world uses them. Europeans will understand a dollar price, whereas quoting Americans in euros won't work.
I only use euro when paying to rapidshare , If I earn some money it is in Us dollars and I change them to my currency(ytl) asap.Dolar has gone 1.72 ytl to 1.35 ytl in last two years.
