What countries offer the strictest internet privacy?

I am looking to set up a server in an offshore country that has privacy laws written into their constitution. Specifically, I am looking for a web host that by law cannot cooperate with industrialized nations requests for server logs, no matter how extreme the offense is (excluding terrorism, child porn, drug smuggling, obviously).

I need to ensure that if an agency (government or otherwise) were to go to my web host and ask to see who was the owner of the hosting account, that my web host wouldn't turn over server logs with my IP address all over it.

I'm thinking panama. Any other ideas?

I'm not just talking about shutdown requests, I'm talking about a government agency actually pressuring the host for server logs or account holder information. I will most likely be facing this in the coming months, and need a host that is serious about privacy.

*edit* think something on the scale of phishing myspace accounts or something, but on a massively huge scale. Nothing involving banking information, stolen CCs, warez, adult.

I think Mininova and such sites are hosted in Holland and according to their laws nobody can touch them, so even if there is a serious complaint, they just respectfully show you a finger and say - tough luck.

well iran dont acctually have any copyright laws on foreign products(american products for example) Like you can walk down a street in iran and buy knocked off microsoft equipment...And the government and web host will likely not co operate with anyone as there country arent getting along with america...
To get a dedicated server or vps in iran talk to the owner of
http://www.warez-host.com as he has a server in iran

Guys thanks for the replies, but I am not concerned with DMCA or copyright. The reason many people point to Sweden or Netherlands as "safe" is because the operators of those sites are actually citizens of those countries, as such, US law doesn't apply to them. What if they were US citizens? they would have been busted years ago, because their identities were immediately made known once the US investigated their operations and enquired with their web hosting providers.

As I said, I am not concerned with someone simply asking for material to be taken offline... I am talking about possible criminal investigations (its a grey area, it might be completely legal but I'm not willing to take a risk). Think borderline hacking (but not actually hacking).

So keep in mind, I am not asking which countries allow copyright, etc. I am asking which countries maintain a "F you" policy toward the US/UK and will not so much as even turn over account holder information.

My question is not what countries allow what sites, it's what countries will keep my identity completely hidden in the event of an investigation? Thank you to anyone with knowledgeable information that replies. I have been doing so much research on this and so far have only come up with Panama, Russia, and a couple others... Its been a long rough search!

But panama is good as they are 1st class usa haters..Although hosting can be damned expensive there..My friend payed 1000$ a month for a dedicated server

russia and iran only, china you need a license issued by Chinese gov. to legally have it up and running, without it you can be taken down anytime no questions asked.

Do not try Iran, most of the sites would be blocked and blacklisted. Go for the Netherlands or Hongkong...
