What could we use to protect our eyes? (long hours in front of the computer)

    Hello!

I spend about 14 hours per day in front of the computer. I would like to find maybe some glasses I could use to protect my eyes.

I normally don't use glasses. I don't have any sight problem (yet :) ) that's why I would like to protect my eyes.

I am 29 years old, I don't want to become blind after many years of long hours in front of the computer.

Many could think that is a Myth. I don't. I believe we can make harm to ourselves after long hours in front of the computer.

Anyway, this thread is NOT for talking about wether the computer screen makes harm or not, It is about reccomending products for protecting our eyes.

    Regards,

    Chewie.

I think has been discussed before.

Anyways, I wash my eyes off every 2-3 hours. I take a break and roam around my room and back to work... :D

I dont think there are such things.

Take regular breaks - every 20 minutes look 20 metres in the distance for 20 seconds.
    Eat healthily.
    Drink plenty water.
Get an eye test twice a year.
Don't sit too close to a large screen.
Make sure you have a decent monitor that doesn't flicker.

I didn't know a LCD screen was better to protect your eyes.

I have a TFT monitor,.... is that worst?

Night: cease the darkness, your sight will not get better from working in a dark room. Put up some ambient light.
Day: carefully calibrate your monitor' color balance. It's quite funny to find yourself seeing the sky in purple/acid colors after spending 15 hours on badly colored old CRT /* that's the point after which any coder could say 'So beauty... and no censored DirectX at all' */
General trainings: you're don't supposed to see at night -- yet you should try. Look into the dark, look into the abyss.. also, you should check your eyes upon sky dome, it helps eyes to accommodate better -- because of visual infinity / endless perspective/focus.
Other tricks: if you're spending too much time online, get a polarized lenses (yellow-tone) for RL. They would hide your red eye symptomatic from police xD

Btw.. about pros and cons of crow hunting. Ten good shots = +0.05 of visual acuity, so that's how munchkins are training offline nowadays.

Reading/Computing in low light may strain your eyes but it will not damage them.

You definitely need to give your eyes a break every hour at the most, 5 to ten minutes should help.
