What could substitute Access?

12 year ago I compiled for myself beautiful accounting ap with MSA.
After years it became priceless to me.
Couple of years ago I abandoned Windows for FreeBSD and now I'm searching for tools to convert or even to build from scratch same db but without Windows.
OpenOffice.org's Base still cannot compete with Access. Is there any other tools around comparable with Access?

MySQL or PostreSQL are both superior databases. What you wont find is anything with Access's, Excel like GUI.

What you could so if you need is install a Virtual OS, running Windows. Install Access on that. SUN's VirtualBox is compatible with BSD. There's probably a number of other BSD compatible virtualization platforms as well.

Thanks but it's not quite what I want. I do have xp as a guest os and it's the same "windows dependency" as multiboot.
I wasn't and I am not Access guru. I learned basics then used its templates, understood how it works and build my own quite sophisticated application that suits me now perfectly. I'd like to use same approach to build similar front end to mysql/postgre...if it's possible:)
In my age its hard to learn same way as a student@uni that I graduated 30+ years ago. So if could get a basic application that I could "hack" and globally customize it would be pretty good start for me if no tools like Access exist for *nix.
Could you recommend me something to start with?

I have Access on my Windows platforms and I use MAMP with a Mac platform [unix flavor]. Do a search on MAMP to download a copy.

    Q...
