Just reading some threads on the testing of the bid for position directory, what if any place in the directory world will this kind of feature have? Would the owner of the directory be tempted by the highest bidder as opposed to the best quality link? Does this put us down an even more slippery slope of Google's stance on quality rather than paying? I realize there are many reputable directory owners who wouldn't be tempted to sacrifice quality for any amount of money but my worry is that this is a simple QBC opportunity which is what so many of us are complaining of?
I plan to be in it for the long haul and never to sell mine. But on the other hand alot of others probably do too. The thing is you never know what might happen. Personal circumstances etc.. may change and you may have to look at selling.
On my new bidding directory which is a new and unique concept, PagePower , the bidding take place only on the main page. The categories are actually owned by the directory owners and having your own category it means that no one else will list his site under your category and basically there is no bidding apart from the thing that a certain owner wants to play with the position of his websites inside his category. So bidding is only for the homepage spots, the rest of the site acts like a normal directory
So all you are doing loredan is selling links for directory owners to list thier names and then under thier names you get to see the directories they own?
Well ... I'm trying to create a directory of directory owners where every member own his own category with his own description and his own websites...so there is no bidding inside the categories. Also I think PagePower can become a place to check if you would want to do business with a certain directory owner and to see his websites
I think its a great idea having in mind the the QBC clowns out there, my own view on your model though is to perhaps vet the people you allow to bid, because the highest bidder doesn't necessarily mean he/she is the most honest?
