    What commission is reasonable for an affiliate? Is commission rate the number 1 reason when you choose an affiliate program? Or what else is important?

    What is commission rate at your affiliate program?

    Best regards, Seopharmacy

    It is hard to say what is most the important factor when choosinng Affiliate Program. First of all I always consider these characteristics:

    1. Relevance of the program to the content of my site;
    2. How the merchant's site looks like;
    3. Payment method (I prefer PayPal);
    4. Commission structure (in comparison with other programs in this niche);
    5. Coockies' length (preferably life time);
    6. Customer support (good customer support = reliability of the merchant).

    Good luck!

    I would say it depends on the category of your program as to what percent to offer. My program offers 26% just so it appears above all of the programs that offer 25% or less.

    Its a mixture of many things but even the highest payouts don't mean jack if you can't get any support so it is a nice mix bewteen offers, payout and affiliate manager support. Plus does it have a good reputation.

    It's all about conversion... some of the highest payouts don't mean shit if you are not converting what they are selling.

    In the credit card arena there are offers that pay $60 per sign up and offers that pay $40 per sign up.... some of the $40 accept more customers so the conversions are better and you can make much more off of the $40 in the long run.

    Test... test and test again.

    We change out and try new things all the time... you never know until you try it out.

    I guess you'll know how good a comission is after you learn form experience how hard to make a sale is. You can try to predict how many clicks you'll have to get for a sale, but nothing is certain until you do it. I was very excited about a program paying $50 average per sale, but after a while and 800 clicks I realised it'd not as good.

    If you get good traffic try moreniche programs.
