Here is my website (www.uglysob.com), but I'm having a hard time picking a color scheme that will go with my logo. I plugged in the red from the logo at the site below, but it doesn't look good. What scheme should I use? http://www.colorschemedesigner.com
Gray doesn't have to be boring! Look at what Apple does - they apply a bit of a sheen to create a silver effect, which I think would look nice with your logo.
grey isn't boring at all, it is if you are just using flat colour but it could definately work. What blue ar eyou thinking of using?
why not use black and white...your logo has a white boarder so when you put it onto a black background it wont look like its just blending in
the red looks good, and I would def recommend some grey lettering. as for the blue...not sure if its a work in progress, but it just contrasts the red too much.
I think you have picked the right color. Try to experiment the combination of the primary colors as well. Overall, it is good.
Not to hurt, but I didnt feel attracted for the colors. I feel there is much contract and mismatch of the colors. Try using some gradient or some floating colors as of the logo depicts. You can also have some background color or image. You can use these color cheat sheets along with many other cheat sheet for better design.
stick to your neutral colors, the blue and yellow, I dont like, I think keep the template basic and leave your logo with the color to make it stand out, or just design the whole site around the colors of your logo to make it uniform
Using the same colors of the logo for the rest of the site will NOT make it stand out.... it will only make everything run together and look like a mess. Isn't that a rule in design school?
No. There are no rules, except for the use of certain color combinations. Blue backgrounds with black text is one example - but even Adobe broke that rule with their Photoshop CS4 splash screen/icons. But I personally think that it looks really tacky, but that's a rant for another thread... So really it just comes down to your own preferences. It sounds like you want to make the logo stand out, and a neutral background will be the best way to help you achieve that.
BTW, yes, I don't mind the blue that you are using now. It doesn't compete with your logo colors at all. I'd rock it for a while - it certainly doesn't look bad.
