Must have been me! I love silver cars.... There is a big difference between primer grey and silver paint. I would always choose silver paint over any other paint color. The colors that I would avoid would be the yellow, the neon greens & oranges that I have been seeing lately, and any shade of pink.
It depends on the car as well. But i would avoid a black car as i have a black car now. It gets dirty too easily and very hot in summer. The other color is white because it looks cheap and most fleet cars in Australia are that color. the best color is silver, because it doesn't get dirty easily, it reflects heat quite well and it hides scratches quite well.
I am talking about vehicle body color before any paint including the multiple substrates including primer. Sheet metal like this is what silver cars look like to me but I worked in automotive for many years.
There's something called clear coat break down that has occurred since the early 80s and may still be occurring. Paints took a step back when they had to switch to water based paints, they may be back to where they were when solvents were allowed......time for some new regulations....
