What code/language is this built with?

    Hi all,

    I am hoping to just learn from some of you who can recognize what websites are built with just by looking at them.

    I would be curious to know: what is a site like http://appsumo.com/ built on?

    The typical approach I know is to make a PSD, slice it, and then code/convert to HTML etc

    But this one looks like it didn't start with a PSD. Am I correct, or do you think that this one also starts with a PSD?

    And what about a site like http://www.woot.com - did that type of design start with a PSD?

    Both of those sites look like custom designed and coded websites. They're not built on anything in terms of platform if that's what you're asking.

    Both sites have HTML/CSS there is some ajax on the woot site. As for knowing what sites are started as a PSD that is more of a choice. It makes it easy to code a site when you know what the site is to look like before you even start typing the opening tag.
