Im Trying To Figure Out The CMS For These Two Sites.

The First One Looks Great, Nice And Clean. The Second One Looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

    Thanks,

I tried to find some clue for you about the used engine, but unlickily i found nothing. Otherwise if you are comfortable with WordPress i belive that you may build a very similar site easily.

i've used wordpress quite a few times, but imo it doesn't allow much expansion.

if u visited collegehumor.com u can see the amazing features located towards the right. i dont think wordpress is capable is creating that. (ex. the whats going on section)

In general im looking for a cms that allows me to have alot of control of the design (handwriting the html/css) , while i can just fill in the areas where i want the content to be generated. I also want it to archive my news/content/gallerys/videos etc...

im searching far and wide for this

You could create either with ease using Drupal and a custom theme. You can watch a free video tutorial to create your site using Drupal. If you need custom themes PM me

Im going to look into drupal. But before i do, does drupal allow alot of freedom when it comes to design/css? I want to design my site as if it were a regular site w/o cms, then implement a cms solution into the site so that i can better manage/update the content. im really not looking to create a cms site, i want a site with cms features.

    will do this it?

I would recommend using subdreamer as drupal is opensource and has quite a lot of security holes. Subdreamer isn't free though and you can get it from http://www.subdreamer.com.

collegehumor for sure is custom built....

I've used Subdreamer since the year it came out. Their community is dissolving faster than ever and the admins are doing nothing to update the software. There hasnt been a significant upgrade, or even a plugin fix, in like 2 years. That just doesn't cut it, for a paid CMS...in my opinion..

urgh , I figured... now i need to locate the people who designed/built it. Any suggestions on where i can find a developer who is capable of cooking up a site like collegehumor.com.

a freelancer, a company, a site etc... any info appreciated...

The superficial is surely wordpress really there is nothing much into it. You can get such custom design done for $100 here on DP.

They both are good and have good coders there.

Also put your rquirements in service section of DP. Only Create one thread in the best suitable section of it.

    Best of Luck

I haven't seen such a bad attempt at bad mouthing drupal for ages.
Any security hole found is patched promptly. Hacking protection by obscuration is not working and anyway a paid company is way longer to update security hole because it is longer to be aware of them and very quiet about them!

No, honestly go for drupal and then think later, you cannot do a mistake by going with drupal.

Good luck with Subdreamer. Using subdreamer for CMS is like using like watching Black and White Television when color is available.

One of the big coder sites is in Joomla but I don't remember which one. Other than that I can't think of one.
