What CMS script you use for this project?

What CMS would you guys recommend for a site that offers tools to build a family web site - blog, photo gallery, event calendar, other features like that.

Or does it sounds like I should build from scratch?

Here are some similar sites, but surprisingly they all use ASP/.Net or Flash, I would prefer PHP:

Once again, Joomla can do it easily with the right extensions.

 

Joomla has all the tools you'll need for a site such as that.

 

yup pretty much with joomla andr drupal you can build it using the right extensions (components/modules)

or if you're into coding you can do it with eZpublish.. you wouldn't have to add any extensions as ez is a cms and a framework in one.. you'll be able to desing the database(classes) with in the admin and code the functionality with in their templates..

any how if you want this site up and running with in days and not too worried about if it's the "absolute best" architecure go with joomla.
