I am in the developmental stage of one of my sites that will be a travel guide type site. In terms of cms, what type do you suggest I use?
I recommend looking at Wordpress. It's the best for news management or articles of any kind. www.wordpress.org
do WHATEVER you can to stay AWAY from phpnuke. nuke is probably the WORST CMS in the world. it has more security flaws than IE does. NEVER use nuke, it's a horrible CMS. I recommend Wordpress, like I said above.
Agree, and also highly hackable. Mambo/Joomla are great but from my point of view requiring too much work involved getting a phpnuke-like site, just similar to many others. Wordpress is about the same, everybody use it, though it has two advantages; you can get a nice template to avoid the uniform-like looking, plus your content can make your site unique. However I would go with a portal instead of a CMS because you can diversify reviews and other services to travelers. The easier: http://www.ultraapps.com/freecommunitywebportal.html download link: http://www.ultraapps.com/appdownload1.asp?app_id=16 or sophisticated: http://www.dcp-portal.org download link: http://www.codeworx.ca/index.php?page=dl_public&action=viewfile&fid=98&fcat_id=2
I would try Geeklog (www.geeklog.net) Inserting an image in a story is like this: [image1] and using the browse button. Nothing easier and safer than Geeklog!
this may sound daft, but it's really simple, have you tried using cutenews? really easy to setup and perfect for a blog, you can have other users login with permissions levels, so they can't delete your work etc.. just an idea here's the url cutephp.com
how about trying http://www.mkportal.it? MKPOrtal has tons of features like reviews, blogs, shoutbox, topsites, gallery, shop and integrates well with SMF, vBulletin, IPB and phpbb. regards, wowplanet
