I friend of mine recently bought a domain on here: kutey.com and she wants my help setting a up a website similar to myspace or a hotornot rating site maybe with a chat built in?...

This is something completely new to me, so I have no idea what's really out there to use... but I have offered to help her start it up so im going to keep good on it...

    any suggestions/recommendations?

Hotscripts.com has a ton of MySpace/Friendsters type of scripts.
    Virtual Communities scripts.

Thanks, but looking for recommendations so I don't have to go and try out 50 different scripts.

Something I can afford, under $100 for a lifetime licence....

Ok, well to be honest, just buy it an be done with it. The hours searching to save $5 or $20 is worth much more (usually). Id say just buy phpfox or a hot / not script and save yourself a heap of aggravation.

Um phpfox is $300 - so I would be saving $200 instead of just $5 or $20 ;)

And yes, I already have about 10 hot or not scripts, they just aren't what im looking for.

take the time to research properly. design mistakes are far more costly down the line if you realize something doesn't do what you wanted it to.

I use Joomla & Community Builder add-on for my social network site.

Joomla can be a pain, but I like it. I wish it's not that complicated.
