Im very intrigued as to what CMS the professionals use? Here are some sites as an example: www.skysports.com www.goal.com www.football365.com Can anyone shed any light on the system used for the above sites as they all act the same and have a similar URL structure? Thanks
Well, I looked at the source code, and skysports is using the Vignette Enterprise CMS. You can look at the pagesource of the other sites and you will find other similar indications. Rich
thanks for the info richrf, after some research Im surprised to see so many big corporates using this system as there are MANY disgruntled customers, many of which are suing Vignette!
Vignette, was an early leader in this category, and received lots of publicity. Interwoven came along later. I think all of the CMS products that I have investigated, have massive problems. The thing is, it is tough suing some of the opensource CMS products, because what are the damages!? They are free. But probably no better (in fact, probably worse) than the commercial products. I think we are still in the infancy of CMS products, and as users become more savvy, I expect the products will also mature. As of now, the best tactic is to stay as close as possible to simple and reliable, and forget about the hype (and this includes Drupal and Joomla, and the rest of the bunch). Rich
