Background: I am new to Adsense and I am trying to clarify a few things. I am using a CMS that has an Adsense module that lets me easily place the ads. On top of that it generates a nice log file, that tells me exactly what page a click originates from. This is very convenient to see. So today I opened up my log, trying to see where clicks come from. I saw that yesterday's log shows way more clicks than my adsense account reported. One IP clicked on 4 ads on the same page !? but all other IPs were completely different. Even without those 4 clicks, I am still seing more than double the amount of clicks reported by my module. So effectively this means google counts about 40% of my clicks as valid? I did not click on any of those myself and I am not using any means to cheat. My CTR is way below 1%, wich I always thought is because I just got started and don't have the placement right. Did anyone else notice this? Have you any means of tracking the clicks from your side? How can it be that about 60% of my clicks are not counted? I wrote G! about it, but I would love to hear some thougths from DP. Is there anything else I can do?
maybe Google disregards clicks from certain countries. Do you get visitors to your site from all over the world? Also, it might be a delay in Google updating its stats. Have you waited long enough for Google to update before checking back again ?
Really? And how do you know that? Do you even know what script I am using? Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for all suggestions, but I don't think thats the case. Besides, I contacted the developer of the script and he says for him its reporting correctly. I don't think it has anything to do with update frequency. I looked at yesterday's stats when I did the math. 39% of clicks were counted as valid. Most of my visitors come from the US, defenitely more than that. I swear between my first check this morning and just now, the adsense report (on google) shows less clicks. I am really getting confused now.
I don't think thats the case, I am reading here for the first time. and even if thats true why would Advertisers would pay for that!
If you are using Adlogger, it's a known issue that it counts "clicks" differently from Google. See these posts from the Adlogger forum: http://www.adlogger.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133 http://www.adlogger.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5 http://www.adlogger.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=389 There may be similar problems with other click tracking scripts.
