Invision Power Board. I prefer SMF (Simple Machines Forum) myself, but I'm not going to tell you which one to use. Instead, I suggest you research your needs and then see which forum packages meet them, and then pick one from them.

very useful reading of this thread, information inside this thread is great, I like the way you build this thread but not your website. I think to attract reader does matter: quality content, but also the way the font is chosen, the size and stuff like this that make your article readable.

Hi Neil, I will try IMB once I decide to have a forum on my website but here I think copywriting don't have much topics to be discussed in the forum. What do you think?

The only other one worth using is vBulletin. A lot of people like phpBB, but it has a bad history as far as security goes - and despite the improvements in phpBB3, I'm still not sold on it.

SitePoint has a growing copywriting board on its forums, but it already had a thriving community that was demanding a copywriting board to be added.

Thanks for information. I have checked Sitepoint yesterday, SEO forum is good there but not much on copywriting. Anyway we need to build traffic.

    Thanks for your help.

The copywriting section is called "Content For Your Site" and it's still relatively new. It also encompases things like blogging and social networks & online communitites - two topics you were expressing an interest in earlier.

True, I've got a torrent site and my forum is pretty quiet. Not a great niche. :D

phpbb2 is a nice free option.

    Hi Guys,

We have discussed lots of interesting things here on this thread, now I want to divert this thread toward content writing as we have discussed enough about designing of website -- I mean things to attract visitors.

Is it okay to put a lots of original content on the home page of website? OR Home page should have things like a) Services b) Packages c) Testimonials d) About us e) few images and something call to action.... :)

    Your suggestions are welcome :)

Don't you mean phpbb3? Because phpBB2 is a security train wreck.

Now we're talking about information architecture instead of copywriting or search engine optimization. Your home page should specify what the site is about and what it can do for your visitors. Since you're offering copywriting services, I'd probably include summaries of some recent work on there, a sales pitch (written in an editorial style so it doesn't look like YAMFA (yet another [censored] [censored] ad  ). Take my own personal Web site for example. It hasn't launched yet, but when it does, it's going to have an excerpt of the two latest blog posts (this is just going to be a personal blog - "my personal space" - on the home page, along with an overview of the site's objective (to sell SEO and Web development services), and links to my about, services, portfolio and contact sections. The menu will also serve a a subtle call to action as well. "Home, Who I Am, What I Do, Previous Work, My Writing, Contact Me"

Of course your Web site is different and thus will have different needs - since you're offering copywriting, a content rich home page may be benficial as long as you don't go overboard.

There is no such thing as "Web 2.0" unless you're talking about the sharing of information among Web based applications. As far as the design style that "borrowed" the name is concerned, I've been noticing a trend AWAY from it the past few months - more and more sites are starting to appear with a post-modern grunge style these days, especiallly the Web designers' personal sites.
